Website takeover – who it fits, and what ends up belonging to you.
Search for who takes over a WordPress site someone else built, and you mostly find long guides explaining what WordPress is, not a studio offering the service itself. Massruum, a web studio based in Tallinn, Estonia, does that work: takes over an existing WordPress or WooCommerce site, tells you honestly what state it is in, and hands it back to you in a shape you can manage yourself.
Short answer
A takeover means we audit your existing site, back it up immediately, and give you a written summary of what works and what does not. If the site runs on WordPress or WooCommerce, we maintain and fix it directly. If it runs on Wix, Squarespace or another closed platform, we migrate the content to WordPress. A takeover starts at 450 euros, migration from another platform at 700 euros. At the end, the code and content belong to you, not to us and not to a license.

Audit
We measure speed on desktop and mobile, go through the plugin and theme list, check security updates, and look for conflicting indexing instructions being sent to Google.

Access and backup
We check whether you actually have access to your own domain, hosting and admin account, and help recover it if you do not. A full backup gets made before we touch anything.

A written report
You get a clear summary: what is fine, what is broken, and what is simply old but still doing its job. We do not sell you work you do not need.

A specific list of work with a price attached. You decide whether we go ahead with all of it or start with the most urgent items only.
Who owns what
When we are done, the site is yours. Actually yours.
This is the part of a takeover that matters most, and the reason Massruum does this work at all. We write clean, vanilla WordPress code, without a bloated page builder or plugins locked to us. When the engagement ends, you have the code, the content and every access credential, under your own domain, hosting and admin account rather than routed through ours. You can hand it to any other developer who knows how to read it, because it is ordinary WordPress, not a private dialect we invented.
That does not mean a site built with a page builder was a wrong choice. Divi and Elementor both do a solid job, and we use Divi ourselves on some client projects by choice, because it is quick to build with. If your site is built with a page builder, we can maintain and extend it in the same tool. You do not have to rebuild a site from scratch just to change who looks after it.

The honest answer depends on what your site is built on. Here it is, stated plainly, before you order anything.

If we conclude that fixing it does not make sense, we say so before sending an invoice, not after. A new custom-built WordPress website then starts at 900 euros and is its own decision, not an automatic conclusion from every audit.
Decision
When a rescue is the right call, and when a rebuild is
A rescue is worth it when the foundation is sound: the site loads in a reasonable time, the theme is well known and maintainable, and the problem sits in specific faults, a wrong configuration, forgotten plugins, an out-of-date backup, rather than in the whole structure.
A new site is worth it when every small fix introduces a new bug, when the theme has been patched so many times over the years that nobody quite knows what does what any more, or when the business itself has grown into something different from what the site was originally built for. Our own speed study, Estonian website speed 2026, found no speed difference between page-builder sites and hand-coded ones. The gap comes from how much has been piled onto a site over time, not from what it started as.

What we find
What comes up most often in a takeover.
No secret here, since these are exactly the reasons a site gets taken over in the first place.
- Slow load times. Our speed study measured a median LCP of 8.2 seconds on Estonian small-business sites, against Google’s own threshold of 2.5 seconds for a good score.
- Unused JavaScript and CSS adding to load time without any visible benefit, present on 92% and 88% of the sites we measured in the same study.
- Conflicting indexing instructions, where WordPress’s own setting and an installed SEO plugin send Google different orders on the same pages, exactly the fault we found and fixed on a client site, described on our technical SEO page.
- Missing or untested backups, the most common finding of all, which is why the first step is always making a backup before we touch anything else.
